Let’s tell City Council Members to ensure housing is built for people and families of all income levels, no matter how rich or poor. Join SHA at the Planning and Design Commission Workshop Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m.

The Sacramento City Planning Department is proposing changes to its Housing Element, which would eliminate developers’ obligation to mix affordable units in new developments if they pay a fee. While SHA supports going City-wide to expand the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, we oppose removing the mandatory requirements for mixing people of all income levels in new developments.

Together we’ll and advocate for the protection of the City’s Mixed Income Housing Ordinance and expansion of its Affordable Housing Trust Fund. We’ll also let our Planning Commissioners know that before drastic changes to the Ordinance are made, the policies and practices within the Ordinance itself need to be reviewed by a Citizen’s Committee made up of stakeholders and resident representatives from each Council District–the same as it was when the Ordinance was reviewed in 2009.

Your input and participation can help keep housing inclusive and within reach for everyone in our community! Please join us on July 25th.
