The Sacramento Housing Alliance is a non-profit coalition promoting quality affordable housing and enhanced opportunities for lower income households and people who are homeless.

With current development activities in Yolo, Sacramento, Solano, and Contra Costa counties, CHOC's corporate staff is based in Davis. A subsidiary nonprofit property management corporation, Sterling Asset Management Company, provides staff and services at 19 rental sites. CHOC has a home ownership program for low and moderate income, first time home buyers in California. CHOC also has housing just for seniors, age 62 and older.

Families can qualify for up to $40,000 toward the purchase of their first home. Families must have good credit, not owned a home in the last three years, be pre-approved by a lender, and meet income guidelines. This program is offered in the following jurisdictions: Lincoln Williams Rocklin Yuba City Dixon Yolo County-Unincorporated Areas Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program This is a low interest rate loan that is offered to low-income homeowners who are in need of repairs such as new windows, roof replacements, heating and air units, etc. This program is offered in the following jurisdictions: Calaveras County Lincoln Placer County Citrus Heights Ione Jackson Williams Colusa Marysville Dixon Suisun Yolo County-Unincorporated Areas West Sacramento—offered through the city of Wes Sac. Self-Help/Sweat Equity Program Malena Navarette (916) 414-4403* This is a program where families volunteer 40 hours a week working in groups of 6-8 families building their home. The process is generally 10-12 months. Eight hours are required on each Saturday and Sunday. Their work is their down-payment. Currently they are taking applications for a coming subdivision in Live Oak. To be considered families must meet the following guidelines: Have good credit Not owned a home in the last 3 years Volunteer 40 hours a week Meet income guidelines (Live Oak is a minimum of $23,0000, depending on family size) There is a general interest list for the following areas: Sacramento County, Yolo County, Solano County and Other. Once a project is considered in one of those areas families on that list will be notified.

The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency is a Joint Powers Authority created as a public agency by the City and County of Sacramento in 1973. SHRA is the lead public agency and public developer for the City and the County regarding affordable housing, public housing and redevelopment projects and issues.

Our Housing Resources program provides housing counseling and referrals to over 2,000 desperate Sacramento residents each year. We also offer low-cost shared rooms in our Friendship Housing program for single men, women and women with an infant.
